Loire Valley Wines are pleased to announce their partnership with Canada’s Best Sommelier Competition 2023, which will be held on November 13–15, 2023 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
This highly expected triennial event, organized by the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers (CAPS) in collaboration with SOMM U (Somm University), will attract the best sommeliers from across Canada to compete for the prestigious title and perfect their skills in the various master classes and tastings offered during the event.

“Loire Valley Wines have always been committed to the wine culture promotion and to the events supporting those celebrating excellence in sommellerie,” explains Pierre-Jean Sauvion, Interloire spokesman. Their involvement in this renowned local event demonstrates their commitment to the Canadian wine community and their desire to contribute to its development.
Several leading sommeliers will be both judges and instructors during the different seminars, with Véronique Rivest, Canada’s Best Sommelier 2006 and 2012, alongside Michelle Bouffard, author and founder of Tasting Climate Change, Jennifer Huether, the first Canadian woman to earn the title of Master Sommelier, Clare Tooley, Master of Wine, William Wouters, President of the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale, and Michael Tremblay, Sake Samurai, among others.
A not-to-be-missed event in Halifax
Known for its warm hospitality and thriving culinary scene, Halifax will be the perfect host for Canada’s Best Sommelier Competition and SOMM U. Nova Scotia’s capital is a vibrant city that combines the charm of a historic seaport with a contemporary, cosmopolitan atmosphere.
In addition to intense competition, participants will have the opportunity to explore the rich cultural and gastronomic heritage of Canada’s Atlantic coast.
Among the week’s special moments is the eagerly anticipated “Taste of France” gala dinner, which will sublimate local products by pairing them with a fine selection of French wines, including Loire Valley Wines.
