Wine Trade: The stage is set for ‘Taste Ontario!’ Toronto

April 7, 2023

62 Ontario VQA Wineries gather for the biggest tasting of local VQA wines at Taste Ontario! Toronto By invitation only, for members of the Media and Wine Trade.

Taste Ontario! Toronto is back with a full calendar of events planned on Wednesday April 12th, 2023 at the Park Hyatt in Toronto.

Sixty-two Ontario VQA producers are coming to Toronto from their local vineyards, to pour an exciting collection of over 300 wines from their portfolios. Each winemaker has selected four wines, plus one ‘secret wine” from their respective cellars. Expected to be the most exciting tasting of the year – media and wine trade are invited to taste and participate in new ways to connect with local wine throughout the day.

The Wine Marketing Association of Ontario is excited to welcome special guest Nick Jackson, Master of Wine, to their event where he will make his Ontario debut of the 2nd edition of his world-renowned book “Beyond Flavour – Wine Tasting by Structure”.

“I am thrilled to be coming back to Ontario. Cool climate wines are increasingly popular among consumers worldwide, and I am very much looking forward to tasting the latest releases from Ontario,” said Nick Jackson, MW.

To add, the Wine Marketing Association of Ontario and Culinary Tourism Alliance have collaborated to develop a unique culinary experience featuring two local chefs from the Feast On Certified Program. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore how local VQA wines pair perfectly with Indian and Indigenous cuisine from some of Ontario’s most talented chefs.

Chef Ravinder Singh from Bindia Indian Bistro and Chef Aicha Smith-Belghaba from Esha’s Eats will be presenting a series of incredible Indian and Indigenous dishes featuring local ingredients to be paired with Ontario VQA Wines. Toronto Sommelier Beverly Crandon, founder of the Spring into Spice Festival, will take the audience through an exploration of matching diverse foods and local Ontario VQA wines.

“Ontario VQA wineries are excited to be connecting with our important local community of restauranteurs, chefs, sommeliers and new wine shop owners at this important annual tasting in Toronto. This year, we have a rich program featuring a culinary session with two exceptional local chefs and two classes with an esteemed international expert on wine,” said Magdalena Kaiser, Director of Public Relations of Wine Marketing Association of Ontario.
