Year in Review: 50 standout Canadian wines of ’24

December 19, 2024

Welcome to the fourth edition of our 50 Standout Canadian Wines! Over the years, this list has grown to truly capture the essence of Canada’s vibrant and diverse wine industry. Last year, we took a bold step in expanding the selection to include British Columbia alongside Ontario. This year, we’re thrilled to go even further, showcasing wines from Nova Scotia and Quebec—making this our first truly coast-to-coast celebration of Canadian winemaking excellence.

With hundreds of wines tasted from across the country, our editorial team—Principal Editor Carmelo Giardina, Contributing Editor Leah Spooner, and Regional Editor for Eastern Canada Alana Lapierre—has worked to handpick 50 wines that stood out for their quality, uniqueness and ability to tell the story of their regions.

Sign up for our VineRoutes Newsletter to find out what our ‘Most Outstanding Red and White Wines’ are for 2024

It’s important to note that while many of these wines are made in limited quantities and may not be available in every market, this list is not just a shopping guide. Instead, it’s a reflection of the wineries and winemakers we’re most excited about right now—a snapshot of Canada’s growing potential and extraordinary talent.

As always, these wines are not ranked; instead, they’re presented in random order. Cheers to this list of wines that inspired us in 2024.
